The Ranchers Club has a rich history steeped in Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University tradition. Made possible by the donations of ranchers across Oklahoma and into Texas, rich hardwoods, soft leather seating and beautiful eye-catching paintings call to patrons and employees as a reminder of The Ranchers Club’s roots and vision. From The Jameson Ranch in Davis to The Drummond Ranch in Pawhuska, Oklahoma’s finest and most magnificent natural settings elegantly surround.
The building’s earliest days were honorably spent as part of the original Union Club Hotel lobby and as the State Room restaurant, which operated for many years as Stillwater’s preeminent restaurant.
Built in 1950, the Union Club Hotel presented a very contemporary style with sleek curves and all of those features of the 50s that so many loved to see. The original front desk for the hotel sat in the location that is now The Ranchers Club. The hotel’s original restaurant, The Coffee Shop, had the same style accented with plenty of stainless counters and a modern appeal. Over the years, the Union Club Hotel’s front desk and lobby were moved just to the south of the restaurant, replacing what was the original OSU Post Office area. That’s where you will find The Atherton Hotel front desk and lobby still today. The State Room replaced The Coffee Shop and became a dining tradition for more than 50 years, providing visitors a historical dining experience by offering a black and white pictorial of life as a cowboy in the early 1900’s. The most popular menu item was the famous "Pistol Pete Pecan Ball".
Now The Ranchers Club is developing its own distinctive history every day through exceptional dining experiences. Let us be a part of your memorable moments and history. Join us as our history evolves together.
